Job Overview
Amgen is hiring a Senior Business Analyst – Clinical Data Foundation to support clinical data platforms and digital product development within its technology teams.
The role focuses on translating business needs into technical requirements, collaborating with product managers and developers, and ensuring that software solutions support clinical development and data-driven decision-making across the drug development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Analysis & Requirement Gathering
Collaborate with System Architects and Product Managers to define product requirements.
Translate business needs into epics, features, and user stories for development teams.
Create supporting artifacts such as process maps, use cases, and documentation.
2. Agile Product Development
Work within Agile/Scrum frameworks to refine the product backlog and prioritize features.
Break down epics into sprint-sized user stories and define acceptance criteria.
Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and release planning activities.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration
Capture the voice of the customer and ensure product features deliver business value.
Work with engineering, UX, and product management teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
Present product demonstrations and communicate progress to stakeholders.
4. Documentation & Quality Assurance
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, requirements, and changes.
Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and functional requirements.
Identify and manage technical risks, validation requirements, and user acceptance testing.
5. Product Strategy & Continuous Improvement
Support product roadmap development and PI planning.
Contribute to improving product development processes and delivery practices.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
Required Skills
Technical & Functional Skills
Strong experience with Agile software development methodologies (Scrum)
Expertise in writing user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria
Hands-on experience with JIRA or similar agile project management tools
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex technical requirements into business terms
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Analytical thinking and gap/fit assessment abilities
Ability to work effectively with global and cross-functional teams
Strong presentation and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
Experience in clinical development or life sciences domain
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Familiarity with Databricks and modern data platforms
Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and enterprise infrastructure technologies
Exposure to low-code / no-code automation tools
Certifications (Preferred)
SAFe for Teams Certification or similar Agile certifications
Additional Information
This role may require working evening or night shifts depending on project needs.
Candidates should be comfortable collaborating with global teams across time zones.
