Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Immunogenetics & Histocompatibility

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (with rotating weekends and holidays)
Salary Range: $53.31 – $71.04 per hour


Job Summary:

UCLA Health is seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join its renowned Immunogenetics and Histocompatibility Laboratory in Los Angeles. This career role plays a critical part in the field of transplant immunology, where advanced laboratory diagnostics directly influence transplant outcomes and patient survival. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document complex lab tests including flow cytometry and immunophenotyping

  • Execute quality control procedures as per ASHI, CAP, and Department of Health regulations

  • Accurately enter, retrieve, and verify lab data using Medical Center LIS and UIC LIS

  • Complete CAP survey samples and staff competency exams within deadlines

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain specialized lab instrumentation and systems

  • Follow detailed protocols to support organ transplantation testing and compatibility


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license

  • Proven experience in immunogenetics, histocompatibility, or transplantation labs preferred

  • Proficiency in flow cytometry and immunological assays

  • Familiarity with lab quality standards (ASHI, CAP, CLIA, State DOH)

  • Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and protocol compliance

  • Competence in using laboratory information systems (LIS)
