About the Role

A leading global healthcare consulting and healthcare operations organization is seeking an experienced Coder – Profee Multispecialty E/M (IP/OP) to join its medical coding team in India. This role is ideal for professionals with expertise in professional fee coding, multispecialty evaluation and management (E/M) coding, inpatient and outpatient medical coding, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing patient medical documentation, accurately assigning standardized diagnostic and procedural codes, ensuring compliance with healthcare coding guidelines, and maintaining operational productivity and quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Perform professional fee (Profee) multispecialty E/M coding for inpatient (IP) and outpatient (OP) cases according to coding standards and client-specific requirements.
  • Review clinical documentation to ensure accurate code assignment and reimbursement compliance.
  • Complete assigned coding volumes within established turnaround time expectations.
  • Process work allocations assigned by Team Leads while maintaining operational productivity and coding quality.
  • Maintain coding accuracy standards of 95% or higher consistently on a monthly basis.
  • Interpret patient records across multiple medical specialties with precision and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Team Leads, Quality Analysts, and coding teams for performance feedback, audits, and workflow improvements.
  • Participate in weekly quality assurance meetings and coding review discussions.
  • Work effectively both independently and within a collaborative healthcare operations environment.
  • Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and protection of healthcare data in compliance with organizational information security policies.
  • Report information security incidents or compliance concerns through designated channels.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Paramedical Sciences, Healthcare, or related medical disciplines
  • 1 to 2 years of professional medical coding experience
  • Strong expertise in:
    • ICD-10-CM coding
    • CPT coding guidelines
    • HCPCS coding systems
    • Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding
    • Inpatient (IP) coding
    • Outpatient (OP) coding
    • Professional fee (Profee) coding
    • Emergency department coding
    • Radiology coding exposure
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex patient documentation accurately
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational abilities with speed and accuracy in high-volume coding environments

Preferred Skills

Candidates with the following qualifications will be preferred:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office
  • Experience with coding software and encoders such as:
    • 3M Encoder
    • TruCode
    • Optum Encoder
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) / Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, including:
    • EPIC
    • Cerner
  • Knowledge of multiple medical coding specialties, including:
    • Emergency Department (ED)
    • Inpatient coding
    • Outpatient E/M coding
    • Multispecialty physician coding
