About the Role

A leading global healthcare consulting and professional services organization is seeking an experienced Coder – Profee Multispecialty Surgery to join its healthcare operations team in India. This role is ideal for medical coding professionals with expertise in multispecialty surgical coding, professional fee coding, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, emergency department coding, and radiology documentation review.

The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing patient clinical records, accurately assigning standardized medical codes, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, and maintaining operational productivity and quality benchmarks in a fast-paced healthcare coding environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Perform professional fee (Profee) multispecialty surgery coding in alignment with client requirements and industry coding standards.
  • Review patient medical documentation and surgical reports to ensure accurate code assignment.
  • Complete assigned coding volumes within established turnaround time requirements.
  • Process workloads allocated by Team Leads while maintaining productivity and coding quality expectations.
  • Ensure coding compliance according to internal quality protocols and client-specific coding guidelines.
  • Consistently achieve monthly performance targets with 95%+ coding accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Team Leads, Quality Analysts, and coding team members for audits, reviews, and continuous process improvements.
  • Participate in weekly quality assurance meetings and operational team discussions.
  • Work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team-based healthcare environment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, integrity, and availability of healthcare information assets in accordance with organizational security policies.
  • Report any information security incidents or compliance concerns through designated internal channels.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Paramedical Sciences, Healthcare, or related medical disciplines
  • 1 to 2 years of professional medical coding experience
  • Strong expertise in:
    • ICD-10-CM coding
    • CPT coding conventions
    • HCPCS coding systems
    • Multispecialty surgical coding
    • Professional fee (Profee) coding
    • Emergency department coding
    • Radiology coding exposure
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret complex clinical and surgical documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain speed and coding accuracy
  • Strong organizational and workflow management capabilities

Preferred Skills

Candidates with the following additional qualifications will be preferred:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office
  • Experience with coding software and encoders such as:
    • 3M Encoder
    • TruCode
    • Optum Encoder
  • Familiarity with EHR / EMR systems, including:
    • EPIC
    • Cerner
  • Exposure to multiple medical coding specialties, including:
    • Emergency Department (ED)
    • Outpatient Evaluation & Management (E/M)
    • Inpatient coding
    • Multispecialty procedural coding
