About the Role

LabCorp’s Brentwood, Tennessee laboratory is seeking a Cytogenetics Analyst to join their team. This hybrid position focuses primarily on Oncology Cytogenetics and FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) testing. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced cytogenetic technologies while contributing to high-quality patient care.

Work Schedule: Hybrid – Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Work From Home Requirements: Candidate must meet HIPAA-compliant home office standards, including a dedicated workspace and a minimum 100 Mbps internet connection.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex cytogenetic procedures following departmental SOPs.

  • Analyze chromosomes and/or FISH specimens, including imaging, karyotyping, and reporting using ISCN nomenclature.

  • Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results and ensure accurate documentation.

  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, software, and applications.

  • Review test requisitions to collect necessary patient and specimen information.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and precise test results for optimal patient care.

  • Perform troubleshooting and document corrective actions as needed.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent meeting CLIA & State requirements.

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience required; experience in a Cytogenetics clinical lab preferred.

  • ASCP Cytogenetics certification (ASCP CG) is highly preferred.

  • Proven ability to perform cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads using computerized imaging.

  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Proficiency in computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.

  • Must pass standardized color vision testing.

  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternative shifts as required.


Work From Home Specifications

  • Minimum wired or wireless internet speed of 100 Mbps.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site environment while working remotely effectively.
