Role Overview
The Expert Scientific Writer will lead the creation of high-quality, complex scientific and medical content across publications and medical education platforms. This role requires independent ownership of content development, deep therapeutic expertise, and the ability to guide and review work produced by senior and junior scientific writers.
You will manage end-to-end publication workflows, including documentation and approvals through systems such as PromoMats and Datavision, while collaborating closely with internal teams, medical stakeholders, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Content & Publications
Develop complex medical and scientific content including slide decks, abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and medical education materials.
Ensure content accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to internal and external publication standards.
Act as a subject-matter expert in assigned therapeutic areas.
Leadership & Knowledge Sharing
Coach, mentor, and review content developed by senior and junior scientific writers.
Promote best practices and contribute to continuous improvement within scientific communication teams.
Support professional development through ongoing knowledge sharing and expertise building.
Process & Strategy
Conduct publication-need analyses and support regional publication planning activities.
Implement annual publication plans and associated execution strategies.
Collaborate with vendors to deliver publication outputs as per defined processes and timelines.
Utilize advanced training tools and feedback-driven improvements to enhance content delivery.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Maintain strong relationships with medical, scientific, and healthcare professionals.
Work closely with regional scientific communication teams and medical departments to develop customized deliverables.
Provide strategic publication support with institutions and individuals serving as key resources.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, or a Medical Degree.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare scientific content creation.
At least 4 years in a leadership or mentoring role.
Technical Skills:
Strong exposure to therapeutic area knowledge, publication submissions, and/or project management.
Experience with medical education and scientific communication processes.
Soft Skills:
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Language Skills:
Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.
