Job Overview

ThePharmaDaily.com presents a senior-level opportunity for an experienced Global Medical Advisor to join a leading multinational pharmaceutical organization’s Medical Affairs–Operations team. This role is ideal for medical and life science professionals with strong expertise in diabetes and metabolic disorders, who are passionate about shaping global medical strategy, scientific communication, and stakeholder engagement.

Based in Bengaluru, this position carries global responsibilities, supporting international operations, regions, and affiliates while collaborating closely with global medical leadership.


About the Department

Medical Affairs–Operations is part of the Operations GBS unit in Bengaluru and provides strategic medical, scientific, and operational support across global markets. The team comprises medical advisors, scientific experts, project managers, medical writers, designers, and publication specialists who work closely with International Operations–Strategic Operations (IO-SO), regional teams, affiliates, and Global Medical Affairs headquarters in Denmark.

The department’s core mission is to ensure high-quality, compliant, and impactful communication of scientific and medical knowledge across therapeutic areas.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Strategy & Scientific Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of global medical affairs strategies aligned with organizational and therapeutic area priorities

  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned products and strategic initiatives within diabetes and related therapeutic areas

  • Translate complex clinical and scientific data into clear, actionable medical strategies and value propositions

Scientific Communication & Publications

  • Generate, interpret, and communicate scientific evidence to support product lifecycle planning and positioning

  • Lead publication planning and take accountability for abstracts, posters, and manuscripts

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant delivery of scientific and medical content

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, and professional societies

  • Represent the organization at scientific congresses, advisory boards, and symposia

  • Convert insights from KOL interactions, external evidence, and market intelligence into actionable medical plans

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide medical and scientific support to marketing, regulatory, legal, safety, and research teams

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across International Operations, regions, affiliates, and global headquarters

  • Coach and mentor junior medical colleagues and contribute to high-impact, cross-functional projects


Education & Experience Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications

  • MD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree in healthcare, medicine, or life sciences

  • 5–8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, preferably in senior-level medical affairs roles

  • Strong clinical and/or research background in diabetes mellitus or related metabolic diseases


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and global healthcare systems

  • Proven experience in strategic thinking, independent decision-making, and project leadership

  • Strong scientific analysis, medical writing, and presentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively within complex, matrixed global organizations

  • Proficiency in leveraging digital tools, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions for medical insights

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills
