Job Summary

This is a non-supervisory, professional role focused on managing external affairs activities including government relations, stakeholder engagement, and public policy advocacy. The position supports strategic engagement with regulatory bodies, policymakers, and external partners to advance USP’s mission in improving public health standards.

The role also includes communication support, program coordination, and stakeholder relationship management across regional and international platforms.


Key Responsibilities

1. Stakeholder & Government Relations

  • Monitor regional regulatory and public health policy developments aligned with USP priorities

  • Develop and execute stakeholder engagement plans in coordination with leadership

  • Identify and maintain relationships with key government and regulatory stakeholders

  • Support execution of MoU-related activities and stakeholder collaboration initiatives

  • Coordinate meetings with regulators, policymakers, and institutional stakeholders

  • Identify opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and collaborative events

  • Maintain documentation of stakeholder interactions and engagement records


2. Public Policy & Advocacy

  • Support development of evidence-based public policy advocacy initiatives

  • Track global and regional policy developments related to medicine quality and access

  • Provide insights on regulatory and policy trends impacting public health systems

  • Contribute to the development of public policy strategy and positioning documents

  • Support engagement with policymakers and public health institutions


3. Communication Support

  • Support development and execution of communication strategies aligned with advocacy priorities

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop policy-related communication content

  • Coordinate with external PR agencies for communication campaigns and content development

  • Manage content for leadership communications, newsletters, blogs, and internal/external publications

  • Coordinate design requirements with internal creative teams

  • Support social media and messaging activities as required

  • Assist in organizing stakeholder meetings and communication follow-ups


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Pharmacy, Regulatory Affairs, Public Policy, or related field

  • 8–10 years of experience in external affairs, government relations, or healthcare/pharma policy roles

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and policy environment

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical or public health systems

  • Strong analytical and research skills for policy interpretation

  • Ability to develop presentations and policy briefs

  • Excellent communication and business writing skills

  • Strong organizational and coordination abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

  • Ability to work in a matrix and cross-functional environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional qualification in Public Relations or Corporate Communications

  • Experience in international NGOs or global health organizations

  • Familiarity with Indian and international drug/food regulatory systems

  • Experience in program management and advocacy campaigns

  • Strong experience in external stakeholder engagement and policy analysis


Work Environment

  • Individual contributor role (non-supervisory)

  • Requires collaboration with internal teams, government bodies, and external stakeholders

  • May involve coordination across multiple time zones and geographies
