About the Role
LabCorp, a global leader in clinical laboratory services, is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to join our Core Lab team at Henry Ford St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. This role offers an excellent leadership opportunity for detail-oriented, process-driven professionals who are passionate about driving laboratory excellence, mentoring teams, and contributing to LabCorp’s mission: “Improving Health, Improving Lives.”

The Lab Supervisor will oversee daily laboratory operations in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, ensuring accurate and timely test results while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the Core Laboratory, ensuring adherence to protocols and quality standards.

  • Lead, mentor, and train laboratory personnel, fostering professional development and engagement.

  • Monitor workflow and staffing requirements, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.

  • Investigate and resolve operational or production issues, escalating as needed.

  • Implement continuous process and service-level improvements.

  • Maintain and monitor quality control of laboratory equipment and processes.

  • Prepare and manage Quality Assurance documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to laboratory processes.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions for team members.

  • Maintain technical competency and perform bench work as necessary.

  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and state regulations, and enforce departmental policies.

  • Administer administrative functions, including payroll, personnel records, and documentation.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemical or Biological Science.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in a Core Lab.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

  • ASCP or AMT certification required.

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations (CLIA, CAP, and relevant state laws).

  • Proficient in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
