About the Role
LabCorp, a global leader in clinical laboratory services, is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Supervisor – Microbiology to join our team in Tampa, Florida. This is a leadership role for detail-oriented, process-focused laboratory professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. You will contribute directly to LabCorp’s mission: “Improving Health, Improving Lives.”

Work Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM; rotating every other weekend (1st Shift)

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the Microbiology department, ensuring quality and timeliness of testing.

  • Lead, mentor, and train laboratory personnel to foster team development.

  • Monitor workflow and ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.

  • Investigate and resolve production issues, escalating as necessary.

  • Drive continuous process improvements and maintain service-level standards.

  • Ensure proper maintenance and quality control of laboratory equipment.

  • Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluate new laboratory processes and recommend improvements.

  • Conduct regular coaching sessions and provide performance feedback to team members.

  • Perform bench work as needed and maintain technical competency.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including CLIA and CAP.

  • Administer departmental policies, procedures, payroll, and personnel records.

  • Perform additional administrative duties to support laboratory operations.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Associate’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemical or Biological Science, or a non-traditional associate’s degree meeting local regulatory requirements. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Technician.

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is highly preferred.

  • Florida State Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license required.

  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, policies, and regulatory compliance (CLIA, CAP, and relevant state regulations).

  • Proficient in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to make decisions in a dynamic environment and handle physical requirements of the role.
