About the Role
LabCorp, a leading global provider of clinical laboratory services, is seeking an experienced Lab Team Lead to join our Core Lab Chemistry team at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee. The Lab Team Lead will assist in overseeing daily laboratory operations, guiding staff, and ensuring high-quality patient care through accurate and timely test results.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM; every third weekend 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the supervisor in managing daily operations of the Chemistry Lab Team.

  • Generate and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production reports to management.

  • Train new hires and support ongoing development of laboratory staff.

  • Monitor employee performance, workflow progress, and operational issues; keep supervisor informed.

  • Assess specimen acceptability according to established criteria.

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures in compliance with SOPs.

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure optimal performance.

  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.

  • Report accurate test results in a timely manner to support quality patient care.

  • Conduct and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

  • Maintain adequate testing supplies and assist in specimen processing as needed.

  • Ensure a safe work environment and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemical or Biological Science, or meeting local CLIA/state regulatory requirements.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Technician, with core lab chemistry experience.

  • Prior experience as a Technologist is required; supervisory or team lead experience is a plus.

  • ASCP and/or AMT certifications are preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.

  • Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to make decisions in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the role.
