Role Overview

The Lead – Competitive Intelligence (CI) will define and execute the CI strategy, drive foresight initiatives, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership across therapeutic areas and portfolios. This role plays a critical part in integrating competitive intelligence into enterprise-level planning, business development, and long-term strategy.

Experience Required: 6–8+ years in competitive intelligence, strategy consulting, or pharmaceutical/biopharma analytics.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the CI vision, strategy, and roadmap across portfolios and franchises.

  • Lead strategic CI initiatives, including war games, scenario planning, threat modeling, and foresight analysis.

  • Integrate CI insights into Long-Range Planning (LRP), Life Cycle Management (LCM), Business Development & Licensing (BD&L) evaluations, and M&A due diligence.

  • Develop and maintain CI standards, best practices, automation dashboards, and tools.

  • Communicate strategic insights and competitive risks to C-level stakeholders.

  • Build and mentor CI teams, enhancing organizational CI capabilities.


Required Expertise

Technical & Market Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of the global biopharma landscape.

  • Ability to lead competitive risk forecasting, disruption modeling, and strategic scenario planning.

  • Experience designing CI frameworks across pipelines, launches, and portfolios.

  • Proficiency with advanced CI tools for visualization, tracking, and competitive simulations.

  • Knowledge of digital CI ecosystems and emerging methodologies.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as a trusted CI advisor to senior leadership.

  • Facilitate strategic discussions across Commercial, R&D, Medical, and BD&L functions.

  • Represent CI in portfolio reviews, executive forums, and cross-functional planning sessions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in competitive simulations (war games, tabletop exercises).

  • Proficiency with predictive CI tools and horizon scanning.

  • Experience building digital CI platforms and ecosystems.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences

  • MBA or equivalent business qualification
