Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manager – EHS to lead Environment, Health & Safety, Sustainability, and Site Security operations at the Peenya site in Bangalore. This leadership role acts as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for global and APAC EHS requirements, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational excellence, risk mitigation, and alignment with corporate sustainability objectives.

The position is ideal for senior EHS professionals with extensive experience in pharmaceutical or engineering manufacturing environments, particularly within multinational organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement site-level EHS, sustainability, and security strategies aligned with corporate and global standards.

  • Ensure compliance with national and international EHS regulations, corporate policies, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Drive continuous improvement in EHS performance, safety culture, and operational excellence initiatives.

  • Oversee compliance reporting and submissions using internal compliance tools such as Hawkeye.

  • Conduct regular emergency mock drills and EHS committee meetings to strengthen preparedness and risk mitigation.

  • Schedule and monitor departmental safety walkabouts and proactive safety engagement programs.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on EHS risk assessments, process safety, and environmental management.

  • Prepare EHS statements and risk assessments for capital investments and expansion projects.

  • Supervise the operation and regulatory compliance of the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP).

  • Ensure structured EHS training programs for employees based on role-specific risk exposure.

  • Lead safety induction programs for new employees, reinforcing environmental and safety standards.

  • Act as Site Security Officer and implement site security management protocols.

  • Prepare and present EHS KPI reports to leadership and global stakeholders.

  • Drive implementation and certification maintenance for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

  • Support Business Continuity Management, Process Safety Indicators, Global Employee Health initiatives, and corporate sustainability programs.

  • Lead and mentor a team of EHS professionals and ensure effective stakeholder alignment.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from a recognized institution.

  • Certified Safety Professional with a minimum Post Diploma in Industrial Safety.

  • Approximately 15 years of overall industry experience, with at least 5–6 years in a managerial EHS leadership role.

  • Proven experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, or engineering manufacturing industries, preferably within multinational organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience managing a team of at least four direct reports.

  • Strong knowledge of Indian and international EHS regulations, industrial safety standards, and compliance frameworks.

  • Experience handling hazardous operations, environmental compliance, and sustainability reporting.

  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.

Preferred Competencies

  • Expertise in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 group certifications.

  • Experience in sustainability target implementation and environmental management systems.

  • Strong background in process safety, operational risk management, and security oversight.
