Role Overview

Syneos Health is seeking a senior executive leader for the role of Managing Director, Commercial Advisory to drive strategic growth, client impact, and revenue expansion within its Commercial Advisory Consulting Group. This role is designed for a seasoned life sciences consultant with deep expertise in commercial strategy, product launch, portfolio optimization, and executive advisory services.

As a Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations bring innovative therapies to market, scale commercial performance, and optimize portfolios across the product lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

Commercial Growth & Revenue Leadership

  • Lead business development initiatives across existing key accounts and new prospects, consistently generating USD 3M+ in new consulting revenue annually

  • Originate, structure, and close complex, high-value consulting engagements through trusted, relationship-based advisory selling

  • Own and grow a profitable consulting portfolio while ensuring strong financial performance and margin delivery

Client Advisory & Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor to executive leadership at global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies

  • Guide clients on commercial strategy, product launches, portfolio prioritization, market entry, and go-to-market optimization

  • Build long-term client partnerships that position Syneos Health as a preferred strategic advisory partner

Engagement Delivery & Quality Oversight

  • Oversee the design and execution of large-scale consulting engagements, ensuring delivery excellence, strategic rigor, and measurable outcomes

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with strong commercial and operational discipline

  • Balance innovation with practicality to drive real-world client impact

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing consulting teams across commercial advisory disciplines

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and client-centric excellence

  • Partner with senior leadership to expand service offerings, refine methodologies, and scale best practices

Enterprise Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across clinical, commercial, and operational functions to support integrated client solutions

  • Contribute to firm-wide growth strategy, thought leadership, and market positioning


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: MBA or advanced graduate degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related discipline

  • Experience:

    • 10+ years of leadership experience in life sciences consulting, with a strong focus on commercial strategy and advisory services

    • Demonstrated success in product launch strategy, commercialization, portfolio optimization, and market access alignment

  • Revenue Generation:

    • Proven track record of originating and closing complex consulting engagements

    • Consistent achievement of USD 3M+ in annual new consulting revenue

  • Industry Expertise:

    • Recognized thought leadership in commercialization, marketing strategy, product valuation, and portfolio decision-making

    • Established network across pharmaceutical and biotechnology executive leadership

  • Leadership & Influence:

    • Strong executive presence with the ability to navigate ambiguity, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver transformative outcomes


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: USD 265,000 – USD 330,000 annually

  • Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and performance

  • Eligibility for performance-based bonus and/or commission programs

  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, flexible paid time off, and sick leave in accordance with local regulations
