Job Overview
R1 RCM is hiring Certified Medical Coding Freshers for the role of Associate Analyst – Medical Coder (IP & OP). The role requires candidates with active coding certifications and foundational expertise in CPT and ICD coding. The selected candidate will review patient records, assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes, and ensure compliance with government and insurance regulations.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for entry-level professionals to build expertise in medical coding within a dynamic healthcare environment while contributing to quality patient data management and revenue cycle processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding systems.

  • Review patient medical records and documentation to validate coding accuracy and compliance.

  • Ensure proper sequencing of codes in accordance with regulatory and insurance guidelines.

  • Follow up with healthcare providers for incomplete or unclear documentation.

  • Communicate with clinical teams to clarify coding requirements and documentation standards.

  • Review patient charts and daily batches of medical records for evaluation and coding.

  • Research complex or unusual coding scenarios to ensure accurate classification.

  • Ensure all medical codes used are current and compliant with industry standards.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

  • Successful completion of a certification program from AHIMA or AAPC.

  • Active coding certification such as CPC, CPC-A, CIC, CCS, or COC.

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding systems and procedures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently.

Experience Required

  • Freshers with valid medical coding certification are eligible to apply.

  • Prior internship or training in medical coding or healthcare documentation is an added advantage but not mandatory.
