Job Overview

We are seeking a Medical Coding Project Manager to lead strategic initiatives and project execution within the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) product organization. This role focuses on managing medical coding services, including coding automation and workflow optimization, to improve operational efficiency and customer value.

The ideal candidate is an analytical problem-solver, skilled project manager, and effective communicator with in-depth knowledge of medical coding standards and guidelines. You will influence cross-functional teams, drive process improvements, and ensure compliance and quality across all coding operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze quantitative data and qualitative information to determine root causes of operational challenges

  • Identify trends and deliver clear, actionable insights to stakeholders

  • Design solutions emphasizing automation, AI integration, process optimization, and product enhancement

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma and operational engineering techniques to optimize workflows while ensuring continuity of work delivery

  • Expand client value by identifying service improvement opportunities based on understanding of customer needs

  • Ensure compliance with medical coding standards across products and services

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and projects to improve operational and client outcomes

  • Develop project plans, roadmaps, and success metrics while managing risks and setting stakeholder expectations

  • Collaborate with commercial, R&D, and operations teams to drive execution and achieve business goals

  • Gather customer feedback and incorporate it into product and service prioritization

  • Present project updates, outcomes, and recommendations to leadership, demonstrating mastery of project components


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience in medical coding

  • 2+ years managing projects or teams

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting to stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently

  • Experience with computer-assisted coding or coding automation tools preferred

  • CPC and/or CCS certification from AAPC or AHIMA – required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, OneNote)

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and Agile development methodologies – preferred

  • SQL experience preferred


Compensation

  • $86,000 – $146,000 annually (based on experience, skills, and location)

  • Total Rewards package may include discretionary bonuses, variable compensation plans, long-term incentives, and equity opportunities
