Job Overview
The Medical Director – Obesity is a senior leadership role within Medical Affairs, responsible for providing scientific and strategic direction across the obesity therapeutic area. The role involves collaboration with internal stakeholders and external experts to drive evidence generation, medical strategy, and scientific communication.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Strategy & Leadership

  • Contribute to the development and execution of medical strategies and product plans

  • Support Senior Medical Director in driving therapeutic area priorities

  • Participate in Core Medical Teams and Extended Brand Teams

Evidence Generation & Clinical Research

  • Provide input into Product Development Plans (PDP) and Evidence Generation Plans (EGP)

  • Review clinical trial protocols and investigator-sponsored studies (ISS)

  • Collaborate with clinical teams on study design, site selection, and execution

  • Participate in Research Grants Committee activities

KOL Engagement & Scientific Exchange

  • Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

  • Lead or support advisory board meetings and expert panels

  • Deliver scientific presentations and gather actionable insights

Publications & Medical Communications

  • Review abstracts, manuscripts, and scientific publications

  • Support publication planning and execution strategies

  • Collaborate with internal and external authors

Medical Education & IME

  • Define medical education priorities

  • Review Independent Medical Education (IME) grant proposals

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide medical guidance to Marketing, Sales, and Market Access teams

  • Participate in Promotional Review Board (PRB) activities

  • Support regulatory and labeling discussions

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Internal: Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, HEOR, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs

  • External: KOLs, investigators, advisory boards, healthcare professionals

Required Qualifications

  • MD, DO, PhD, or PharmD required

  • Minimum 5+ years of clinical, research, or pharmaceutical industry experience

  • Strong expertise in obesity or related therapeutic areas preferred

  • Deep understanding of clinical trials, GCP principles, and evidence generation

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Subspecialty training in obesity or metabolic diseases

  • Experience in Medical Affairs or pharmaceutical leadership roles

  • Exposure to publication planning and HEOR activities

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $250,000 – $315,000

  • Performance-based bonus eligibility
