Role Overview:
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is seeking an experienced Medical Review Officer (MRO) to join its Toxicology Business Unit. The MRO plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the Workplace Solutions drug testing review process. This role involves clinical evaluation of confirmed positive or invalid drug test results and collaboration with donors, laboratories, and pharmacies to determine final outcomes using expert medical judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive review of confirmed drug test results for Department of Transportation (DOT), federal, and non-DOT clients.

  • Interview donors with non-negative test results to assess legitimate medical explanations.

  • Provide clinical evaluation and apply professional judgment to determine final drug test results, ensuring compliance with federal and DOT regulations.

  • Review and sign off on administrative documents requiring MRO oversight, including memorandums, prescriptions, and medical records.

  • Advise and provide feedback to laboratories, collection sites, and clients on performance and compliance issues.

  • Maintain audit-ready MRO records and ensure adherence to quality policies and procedures.

  • Stay current on changes to Federal, DOT, and state regulations affecting drug testing and occupational health.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and department goal-setting activities.

  • Consult with federal agency representatives and provide expert guidance on MRO matters.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).

  • Current certification from the American Association of Medical Review Officers (AAMRO) or MRO Certification Council (MROCC).

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience in occupational health.

  • Active medical license to practice in the United States.
