Astellas Pharma Inc. is seeking a high-performing Oncology (Precision Medicine) Business Specialist to support its oncology portfolio across the Long Island, New York territory. This field-based role is responsible for driving sales performance by promoting Astellas’ oncology and precision medicine therapies to oncologists, cancer centers, and key healthcare professionals.

The ideal candidate will combine strong clinical knowledge, strategic territory management, and ethical selling practices to deliver value-driven solutions that support optimal patient outcomes.

Purpose and Scope

The Oncology (Precision Medicine) Business Specialist is responsible for achieving and exceeding territory sales goals by effectively promoting Astellas oncology products and services. This role emphasizes scientific engagement, customer education, and relationship development with physicians and oncology stakeholders while ensuring full compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.

Pay grade level is flexible and will be aligned with the candidate’s background, experience, and competencies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Promote Astellas oncology and precision medicine products through in-person physician calls, oncology center engagements, presentations, and educational programs

  • Execute a strategic territory business plan aligned with regional and national oncology objectives

  • Maintain high levels of field productivity, with five days per week in the field supported by planning and follow-up activities

  • Utilize clinical and scientific knowledge to influence appropriate prescribing decisions

  • Coordinate promotional activities with cross-functional and cross-franchise colleagues

  • Achieve quarterly and annual sales targets while adhering to all compliance and ethical guidelines

  • Deliver high-quality clinical and technical value tailored to customer and patient needs

  • Accurately document sales activities, territory expenses, and reports within required timelines

  • Maintain company equipment, fleet vehicle, and promotional materials according to company policies

  • Attend national, regional, and local sales and medical meetings as required

  • Continuously enhance selling skills, disease state knowledge, and oncology product expertise

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership


Organizational Context

  • Reports to: Oncology Regional Business Manager (ORBM)

  • No direct reports

  • Significant impact on national and regional oncology sales performance


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum 4 years of pharmaceutical sales experience

  • Proven record of meeting or exceeding sales targets

  • Demonstrated expertise in account management and consultative selling

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze market dynamics and execute territory strategies

  • Excellent relationship-building skills with physicians, oncology staff, and healthcare decision-makers

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment

  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of oncology sales experience

  • Understanding of the oncology reimbursement and access landscape

  • Established relationships with oncology cancer centers and key clinicians in the Long Island territory

  • Oncology therapeutic area knowledge or precision medicine experience


Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: USD 116,375 – 192,500
(Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, performance, and internal equity)
