Position Overview

We are seeking a Patient Transporter/Sitter to join our dedicated team at UM UCH. This is a full-time evening shift role from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, including every other weekend.

As a Patient Transporter/Sitter, you will ensure the safe and comfortable transport of patients and provide direct observation for patients requiring extra care and attention. This dual-role combines a focus on patient safety and mobility with maintaining a supportive, team-oriented care environment.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Transport

  • Safely move and transport patients of varying weights, ages, and conditions to and from beds, ambulatory devices, and treatment areas.
  • Use proper body mechanics and prioritize patient comfort and safety.
  • Secure, return, and maintain designated supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Sitter Responsibilities

  • Provide direct observation of patients to ensure safety, especially for those at risk of harm to themselves or others.
  • Report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the appropriate healthcare team members promptly.

General Duties

  • Interact professionally and compassionately with patients of all ages, from toddlers to geriatrics, and with a variety of medical conditions.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member to deliver high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Knowledge of proper body mechanics.
  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to follow directions and manage time effectively.
    • Capable of responding to emergencies appropriately.
    • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
    • Functions effectively as part of a collaborative healthcare team.

Position Details

  • Shift: Full-time, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
  • Schedule: Includes every other weekend.
