Role Overview

The Pharmacy Assistant provides essential support to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, ensuring accurate prescription processing, patient support, inventory management, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to high-quality patient care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists and registered pharmacy technicians in filling prescriptions accurately and efficiently.

  • Support patients picking up prescriptions and respond to inquiries from internal and external customers.

  • Enter, scan, and process prescriptions using Kroll Pharmacy software.

  • Maintain accurate pharmacy files, computer records, and patient data.

  • Verify prescriptions and ensure patients receive the correct medication.

  • Maintain workflow through task prioritization and teamwork.

  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering and receiving medications.

  • Prepare billing, claims, disbursements, and related documentation.

  • Pack and ship prescription orders according to established protocols.

  • Maintain pharmacy records and ensure regulatory compliance, including reporting adverse events as required.

  • Assist with administrative and housekeeping tasks as needed.

  • Participate in on-call or standby duties when required.


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma preferred; post-secondary pharmacy training is an advantage.

  • Prior pharmacy experience is an asset.

  • Proficiency in Kroll Pharmacy software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution practices and cold-chain requirements is a plus.

  • Experience handling biological, cytotoxic, or sterile medications is advantageous.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with high accuracy.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.

  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a plus.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily duties.
