Role Overview

The Phlebotomist III / Research Study Staff is responsible for collecting blood specimens from study participants and ensuring accurate, compliant handling for research analysis or clinical testing. This role requires independence, initiative, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced research environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with participant recruitment, screening, and the informed consent process.

  • Schedule and coordinate study visits and specimen collection timelines.

  • Collect venous and capillary blood samples with precision and adherence to SOPs.

  • Accurately document study data in electronic or paper case report forms.

  • Ensure compliance with study protocols, IRB guidelines, GCP, and regulatory requirements.

  • Communicate effectively with study participants, investigators, clinical teams, and Occupational Health Nurses (OHN).

  • Perform routine blood sample testing as required.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, life sciences, or related field preferred.

  • Experience: 2–5 years in phlebotomy and/or clinical research preferred.

  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.

  • Certification: Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent (required).


Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in venipuncture, capillary blood collection, and specimen handling techniques.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.

  • Knowledge of clinical research protocols, GCP, and Good Documentation Practice (GDP).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced research environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
