Job Overview

The Principal Technical Project Manager will lead complex, large-scale technology programs supporting clinical development and regulated GxP environments. This senior leadership role requires strong experience in clinical systems, healthcare or pharmaceutical technology programs, and GxP compliance, along with proven expertise in portfolio management, stakeholder leadership, and enterprise delivery.

The role acts as a strategic bridge between business, clinical operations, and technology teams to ensure successful execution of high-impact, cross-functional initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of complex technology programs, ensuring delivery within approved scope, budget, timelines, and quality standards

  • Manage large, multi-project portfolios, including prioritization, planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation

  • Define program goals, governance models, success metrics, and delivery roadmaps aligned with enterprise strategy

  • Provide oversight and leadership to project managers delivering programs of varying complexity across clinical and regulated environments

  • Establish and continuously improve program, project, and portfolio management processes with executive alignment

  • Ensure compliance with GxP, clinical regulations, and quality standards across all technology initiatives

  • Partner closely with Business Partners and Product Managers to support benefits realization and value tracking

  • Manage relationships with external technology vendors, including SOW, PO, and performance management

  • Analyze impact of new initiatives or changes to existing programs and recommend optimal sequencing and resource allocation

  • Communicate program status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes clearly to senior leadership and stakeholders

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, proactively addressing concerns and aligning expectations

  • Apply deep understanding of enterprise technology platforms, clinical systems, and business processes


Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline

  • Master’s degree or equivalent advanced education is an advantage

Experience:

  • 10–15 years of experience in project or program management within healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceutical environments

  • Demonstrated experience managing clinical technology programs and GxP-regulated systems

  • Proven success delivering large, complex, cross-functional programs at an enterprise level

  • Hands-on experience with portfolio management, budgeting, and resource planning


Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GxP regulations, clinical systems, and compliance-driven technology environments

  • Expertise in program and project management methodologies and tools

  • Excellent understanding of budgeting, financial tracking, and benefits management

  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to influence at senior leadership and executive levels

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification preferred
