About the Role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Project Manager to serve as the Project Lead and primary sponsor contact for clinical research projects.

In this role, you will be accountable for the overall delivery of projects in terms of quality, timeline, and cost, while leading cross-functional teams and ensuring alignment between internal teams and external sponsors. You will also establish clear communication pathways, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure successful project execution.


Key Responsibilities

1. Project Leadership & Sponsor Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the sponsor and the organization.

  • Act as Project Lead for assigned projects.

  • Establish and communicate customer expectations to project teams.

  • Ensure clear communication and escalation pathways internally and externally.

  • Define responsibilities for secondary project leads when applicable.


2. Project Delivery & Execution

  • Accountable for overall project delivery (time, cost, quality).

  • Lead cross-functional teams to meet or exceed project deliverables.

  • Ensure adherence to project plans and timelines.

  • Drive execution across all project functions.


3. Financial & Contract Management

  • Ensure financial stewardship at the project level.

  • Maintain strong understanding of:

    • Contracts

    • Budget alignment

    • Resource allocation

  • Manage:

    • Out-of-scope activities

    • Contract modifications (Con Mod) processes and negotiations

  • Ensure project delivery aligns with financial expectations and constraints.


4. Risk, Issue & Quality Management

  • Drive risk identification and issue resolution using RBQM/RESOLVE frameworks.

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • Organizational policies

    • SOPs

    • ICH-GCP guidelines

    • Regulatory requirements

    • Project-specific standards


5. Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead, motivate, and coordinate cross-functional project teams.

  • Delegate tasks and prioritize workload effectively in dynamic environments.

  • Ensure alignment across teams and functions to achieve project goals.


6. Stakeholder Communication

  • Manage and communicate expectations with clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Provide regular updates and reports on project status.

  • Demonstrate strong negotiation, persuasion, and influencing skills.

  • Work effectively in cross-cultural environments.


Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.


Experience Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in:

    • Clinical research project management

    • Clinical operations

    • Pharmaceutical or healthcare project delivery

    • Related fields
