About the Role

A global leader in scientific services is seeking a Head of Sales – Pharma Services Group (PSG), India to lead and scale its business development operations across Drug Substance (DS), Drug Product (DP), and Clinical Trial Division (CTD) services. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving significant revenue growth, expanding market penetration, and strengthening the organization’s position as a leading provider of integrated pharma services, including CDMO and clinical trial solutions.

The role reports directly to senior APAC and Strategic Accounts leadership and serves as a key commercial leader for India within the global Pharma Services Group.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the India-based Business Development teams across PSG and APJ Clinical Trial Division

  • Drive sustainable revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities and expanding existing customer relationships

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales operating plans, including account strategies, opportunity mapping, sales forecasts, and pipeline management

  • Build a deep understanding of customer markets, outsourcing strategies, and competitive landscapes

  • Support and lead negotiations, deal structuring, and contract closures with strategic clients

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across PSG, CTD, operations, pricing, and global leadership teams

  • Develop value-added solutions and long-term strategic partnerships with global and regional clients

  • Conduct market intelligence and competitive analysis to identify differentiation opportunities, service enhancements, and new offerings

  • Ensure sales strategies align with overall business objectives and margin targets through value-based pricing approaches

  • Review and manage sales forecasts, pipelines, KPIs, and performance metrics on a regular basis

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing business development team, ensuring talent readiness for current and future growth

  • Drive process improvements and commercial initiatives that deliver long-term business value

  • Oversee Salesforce (SFDC) usage, reporting, and data accuracy for the India sales organization


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Direct management of all India-based PSG Business Development and APJ CTD BD representatives

  • Set sales targets, performance metrics, and incentive plans

  • Conduct performance reviews and ongoing coaching

  • Partner with global sales training teams to ensure continuous capability development

  • Define and execute local sales strategies in collaboration with country and operational leaders

  • Provide regular reporting and business updates to senior management


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered

  • Preferred: MBA from a premier institute


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in business development or sales within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CDMO, CRO, clinical research, or healthcare services industry

  • At least 5+ years of senior people management and leadership experience, managing geographically distributed teams

  • Proven track record in strategic business development, large account management, and alliance partnerships

  • Prior experience in senior commercial roles within multinational organizations is strongly preferred

  • International exposure or overseas assignments are an advantage


Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities in sales and business development environments

  • Deep understanding of CDMO, CRO, clinical trial supply, and comparator sourcing markets

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

  • Ability to operate effectively in matrixed, multicultural, and globally distributed organizations

  • Strategic thinking with strong execution and commercial acumen

  • Proven ability to develop business impact analyses and articulate compelling value propositions

  • High level of self-motivation, accountability, and results orientation

  • Familiarity with Salesforce.com or similar CRM platforms
