Position Overview

The Regional Medical Advisor (RMA) serves as the scientific and medical representative of the organization within a designated geographic region. This role is responsible for implementing regional medical strategies, building strong scientific relationships with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders (KOLs), gathering actionable clinical insights, and supporting evidence-based decision-making across internal and external stakeholders.

The Regional Medical Advisor acts as a trusted scientific partner, ensuring that medical activities are aligned with organizational objectives, patient needs, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Strategy Implementation

  • Execute regional Medical Affairs plans aligned with national and global medical strategies.

  • Translate strategic medical objectives into measurable regional activities and action plans.

  • Monitor implementation progress and ensure achievement of key medical objectives.

  • Support execution of scientific initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and healthcare professional engagement.


Scientific Engagement & KOL Management

  • Develop and maintain strong scientific relationships with:

    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

    • Diabetes Specialists

    • Endocrinologists

    • Physicians

    • Academic Institutions

    • Professional Medical Associations

  • Facilitate scientific exchange and evidence-based discussions regarding products, disease management, and clinical practice.

  • Identify and engage emerging experts and influential healthcare professionals within the region.

  • Support scientific advocacy and awareness initiatives.


Medical Insights Generation

  • Collect, analyze, and communicate medical insights from healthcare professionals and scientific stakeholders.

  • Attend scientific meetings, conferences, advisory boards, and educational programs.

  • Identify:

    • Emerging treatment trends

    • Unmet medical needs

    • Competitive intelligence

    • Clinical practice gaps

  • Share timely insights with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Market Access, and Leadership teams to support strategic decision-making.


Medical Education & Scientific Communication

  • Design and deliver scientific and medical education programs for:

    • Healthcare Professionals (HCPs)

    • Allied Healthcare Providers

    • Internal Sales Teams

    • Marketing Teams

  • Present clinical evidence and scientific updates in a clear and compliant manner.

  • Support development of educational materials and scientific content.

  • Ensure consistent and accurate communication of medical information.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with:

    • Marketing Teams

    • Sales Teams

    • Regulatory Affairs

    • Market Access Teams

    • Medical Affairs Colleagues

  • Provide medical and scientific expertise during product planning and commercialization activities.

  • Support brand strategy development through evidence-based recommendations.

  • Assist in evaluating market dynamics and identifying opportunities for improvement.


Scientific Support & Medical Consultation

  • Provide scientific support to internal stakeholders regarding:

    • Clinical Trial Data

    • Product Labeling

    • Therapeutic Positioning

    • Disease Management

    • Treatment Guidelines

  • Respond to scientific and medical information requests.

  • Ensure scientific accuracy and consistency across all medical communications.


Compliance & Quality

  • Conduct all activities in accordance with:

    • Local Regulatory Requirements

    • Industry Codes of Conduct

    • Company Policies

    • Ethical Standards

  • Maintain compliance with pharmacovigilance and adverse event reporting requirements.

  • Ensure proper documentation of medical activities and stakeholder interactions.

  • Support audit and inspection readiness when required.


Required Qualifications

Education

Mandatory

  • MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)

OR

  • MD (Doctor of Medicine)

from a recognized medical institution.


Experience Requirements

Mandatory Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in:

    • Medical Affairs

    • Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Activities

    • Clinical Practice

    • Medical Education

    • Pharmaceutical Medical Functions

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience as:

    • Medical Science Liaison (MSL)

    • Regional Medical Advisor

    • Medical Advisor

    • Medical Affairs Associate

  • Experience within diabetes, endocrinology, metabolic disorders, or related therapeutic areas.

  • Experience engaging healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders.
