Scientist – Purification Process Development

Role Overview:
We are seeking a Scientist to support downstream process development for mammalian or microbial expressed proteins. The candidate will execute experiments, analyze data, support cross-functional projects, and maintain lab operations under the guidance of the manager. This role requires strong technical expertise in protein purification processes, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute downstream process activities for mammalian/microbial products or recombinant proteins.

  • Capture, compile, and interpret experimental data, coordinating with the reporting manager.

  • Prepare, review, and present development reports, BPRs, SOPs, EOPs, and IOPs.

  • Participate in internal and external meetings representing the department.

  • Prioritize activities, provide feasibility insights for prospective projects, and troubleshoot technical issues in manufacturing.

  • Manage laboratory operations, including cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and compliance with EHS standards.

  • Facilitate communication with internal teams and external vendors/clients for technical queries.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Expertise in protein purification and process development: Chromatography, Depth Filtration, Centrifugation, UFDF, Sterile Filtration.

  • Hands-on experience in process monitoring, QbD, and DoE-based process development.

  • Data analytics proficiency and experience with scale-up/down, technology transfer, and virus clearance (VCS) studies.

  • Operation, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of lab purification equipment (Chromatography systems, UFDF, pH/conductivity meters).

  • Familiarity with protein analytical techniques (protein assays, gel electrophoresis, HPLC) is an advantage.

  • Ability to work independently, lead small teams, and document experimental results effectively.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MSc, M.Tech, M.Pharm, or equivalent Master’s degree in Biological Sciences from a recognized university.

  • 8–11 years of relevant experience in downstream process development for therapeutic proteins.
