Role Overview

R1 is seeking a Specialist – Training (AR Follow-Up) to support training delivery, batch management, and performance improvement initiatives within US healthcare revenue cycle operations. This role is an individual contributor position requiring strong domain expertise in Accounts Receivable (AR) Follow-Up, training facilitation, and stakeholder collaboration.

The role plays a critical part in onboarding new hires, upskilling existing teams, improving training effectiveness, and supporting business performance through structured learning interventions.


Key Responsibilities

Training Delivery & Effectiveness

  • Conduct new hire and refresher training programs aligned to AR Follow-Up processes, domain knowledge, and tools.

  • Design and administer process knowledge assessments; analyze results and share insights with stakeholders.

  • Track and achieve defined training effectiveness metrics (Level I and Level II evaluations).

Batch & Performance Management

  • Manage training batches end-to-end, ensuring adherence to defined learning plans.

  • Maintain accurate batch documentation, reports, and training records as per organizational standards.

  • Coordinate batch logistics including training invitations, system access, ID requests, and tool readiness.

  • Address trainee-related concerns such as performance issues, schedule adherence, disciplinary matters, and early warning signs (EWS).

  • Coordinate timely HR escalations for absconding, non-compliance, or training rejections.

Quality & Business Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Quality and Business teams to identify performance gaps among trainees.

  • Develop and execute structured remediation plans to improve trainee productivity and quality outcomes.

Operational & Project Support

  • Perform hands-on AR Follow-Up processing for a minimum of 12 hours per month to maintain process expertise.

  • Actively contribute to special initiatives such as new process transitions, content creation, and training material dissemination.

  • Participate in client calls to understand process or tool updates and prepare roll-out documentation for operations teams.

Compliance & Continuous Development

  • Ensure full compliance with HIPAA, data privacy standards, and internal company policies.

  • Own personal development by creating and completing an Individual Development Plan (IDP).

  • Stay updated as a subject matter expert in AR Follow-Up and US healthcare RCM processes.


Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in US Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management, with end-to-end expertise in Accounts Receivable Follow-Up.

  • Hands-on experience with online payer portals and AR workflows.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Comfortable using virtual collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.

Functional & Behavioral Skills

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills for both classroom and virtual training environments.

  • Ability to create and update training content and learning materials.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reasoning skills.

  • Clear communication and articulation of concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and feedback delivery capabilities.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Graduate in any discipline.

  • Overall Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in US Healthcare RCM, across front-end, mid-cycle, or back-end operations (as aligned to the role).

    • 2+ years of hands-on experience in AR Follow-Up operations is mandatory.

  • Maximum Experience: Up to 5 years overall professional experience.
