Role Overview

The Strategy Lead – CDMO will play a critical role in supporting the Head of CDMO in driving strategic initiatives, business planning, and portfolio management across the Development Services division. The role focuses on managing strategic projects, enabling business governance, and ensuring alignment of strategic initiatives with the organization’s long-term growth objectives.

This position requires strong commercial insight, financial acumen, and strategic thinking to support executive decision-making. The Strategy Lead will collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to develop business strategies, track performance metrics, and optimize operational planning across the CDMO business unit.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management

  • Support the Head of CDMO in developing and executing strategic business initiatives aligned with the organization’s long-term vision and growth objectives.

  • Manage and monitor the strategic project portfolio across the Development Services division.

  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with teams including Quality, Safety, Sales, Marketing, Project Management, and Operations to successfully deliver strategic initiatives.

  • Maintain centralized tracking of strategic projects, including dashboards, project registers, and progress reports.

Business Planning and Governance

  • Assist senior leadership in day-to-day governance, leadership meetings, and strategic decision-making processes.

  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of market acceleration strategies and digital transformation roadmaps.

  • Prepare executive-level reports and dashboards to support performance monitoring and strategic reviews.

  • Elevate key management review outputs into structured insights that facilitate informed decision-making.

Financial and Operational Strategy

  • Analyze business performance and identify opportunities to optimize operational efficiency and profitability.

  • Develop a strong understanding of profit and loss drivers and contribute to strategies for cost optimization within Development Services.

  • Collaborate with finance business partners to develop business plans, annual operating plans, and quarterly forecasts.

  • Support executive leadership in obtaining approvals for strategic initiatives and business investments.

Operational Excellence and Process Improvement

  • Drive improvements in business processes to enhance operational efficiency and support scalable growth.

  • Oversee annual goal-setting processes to ensure alignment with market trends, growth targets, and organizational priorities.

  • Manage multi-year strategic planning initiatives across the division.

  • Promote the adoption of best practices across cross-functional teams.

Reporting and Business Intelligence

  • Develop and maintain strategic dashboards and performance metrics to track portfolio progress and operational outcomes.

  • Provide ad-hoc analytical insights and decision-support materials for leadership teams.

  • Support preparation of presentation materials for business reviews, leadership meetings, industry conferences, and strategic planning sessions.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CDMO industry landscape.

  • Excellent project management skills, including time management, risk management, and structured project planning.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a strategic mindset.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional business environment.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau is preferred.

  • Experience working within global business environments and international teams is an advantage.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • MBA or advanced business qualification is preferred.
