Job Overview

ICON plc is hiring an experienced Supervisor, Bioanalytical Services (LC-MS/MS) to lead daily laboratory operations within its advanced bioanalytical services division. This role is focused on regulated bioanalysis, LC-MS/MS method development, analytical validation, and laboratory leadership in support of global clinical research programs.

The selected candidate will oversee scientific workflows, mentor laboratory teams, ensure compliance with GLP/GCLP standards, and support high-quality bioanalytical testing for complex biological samples and therapeutic compounds.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in UHPLC-MS/MS, analytical chemistry, bioanalytical validation, and regulated laboratory operations within CRO or pharmaceutical environments.


Key Responsibilities

Bioanalytical Laboratory Operations

  • Supervise day-to-day bioanalytical laboratory activities and scientific workflows.
  • Oversee regulated bioanalysis activities under:
    • GLP standards
    • GCLP guidelines
    • ICH validation requirements
  • Ensure accurate and timely analysis of biological and clinical samples.

LC-MS/MS Method Development & Validation

  • Lead:
    • LC-MS/MS method development
    • Method optimization
    • ICH method validation
  • Work with diverse analytes including:
    • Small molecules
    • Peptides
    • Oligonucleotides
    • ADCs
    • siRNAs
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques such as:
    • UHPLC-MS/MS
    • Reverse-phase chromatography
    • SEC chromatography
    • Proteolytic digestion workflows

Automation & Digital Laboratory Systems

  • Operate and manage laboratory automation platforms including:
    • KingFisher
    • Hamilton
    • Integra systems
  • Use:
    • Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs)
    • LC-MS/MS data processing systems
    • Analytical workflow software
  • Ensure strong data integrity and digital compliance standards.

Team Leadership & Staff Development

  • Assign tasks and manage laboratory priorities.
  • Monitor team productivity and scientific output.
  • Train and mentor junior analysts and laboratory personnel.
  • Build a culture of:
    • Scientific excellence
    • Operational efficiency
    • Continuous improvement
    • Compliance awareness

Quality Control & Client Collaboration

  • Identify data inconsistencies and resolve analytical issues.
  • Implement quality control and process improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s (BS) or Master’s (MS) degree in:
