Role Overview:

The Senior Statistical Programmer will be responsible for developing custom programming code using SAS or other software to generate summary tables, listings, graphs, and derived datasets. This position requires high-quality outputs, managing programming activities across multiple projects, mentoring junior programmers, and ensuring all deliverables meet regulatory and sponsor requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Programming and Development:

    • Develop SAS or other software code to generate statistical outputs as per the statistical analysis plan.

    • Perform validation programming and work with biostatisticians and other team members to resolve discrepancies.

    • Ensure outputs meet quality standards and project requirements.

  2. Project Management:

    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and quality.

    • Negotiate accurate time estimates and complete programming activities within set timelines.

    • Participate in sponsor and internal meetings, contributing to project progress and discussions.

  3. Team Leadership:

    • Lead programming activities, overseeing junior programmers.

    • Provide training and mentorship to programming personnel.

    • Ensure that programming documentation, testing, and verification processes are well-organized and up to date.

  4. Quality Control and Validation:

    • Perform second-level manual QC of outputs and compare project documents for consistency.

    • Review and provide feedback on project documentation, such as statistical analysis plans and programming specifications.

  5. Client Interaction:

    • Communicate effectively with clients and provide progress updates.

    • Act as the statistical programming representative during sponsor meetings and bid defense meetings.


Requirements:

  • Education:

    • Undergraduate degree, preferably in a scientific or statistical discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of programming experience in SAS or other required software, ideally within a clinical trial environment.

    • Strong experience in SDTM, ADaM, and TLF generation.

  • Skills:

    • Critical thinking and attention to detail.

    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

    • Ability to manage and negotiate project timelines and task allocations.
