Role Overview
This role is a hands-on clinical technician position focused on operating haemodialysis machines and supporting patients with kidney failure during dialysis treatment.
The trainee technician works directly in a clinical care environment, ensuring safe, accurate, and hygienic dialysis procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Dialysis Machine Setup & Operation
Set up and operate haemodialysis machines for patient treatment
Attach dialyzer and blood tubing to the machine
Prime extracorporeal circuit using 0.9% normal saline
Prepare dialysis equipment before each session
2. Patient Preparation & Support
Explain dialysis procedure to patients before treatment
Help reduce patient anxiety through clear communication
Connect dialysis machine to patient vascular access site
3. Dialysis Procedure Execution
Initiate and monitor haemodialysis treatment
Ensure correct operation of dialysis machine during sessions
Observe patient condition throughout the procedure
4. Equipment Monitoring & Safety
Monitor machine for technical malfunction or alarms
Ensure safe and continuous dialysis operation
Follow infection control and clinical safety protocols
5. Dialysis Solution Preparation
Prepare dialysis solutions as per prescribed formula
Mix bicarbonate solutions accurately for treatment requirements
6. Documentation & Records
Maintain:
Logbooks
Treatment forms
Patient registers
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of procedures
7. Patient Identification & Safety Checks
Label dialyzer and blood lines with patient ID
Ensure correct patient-machine matching before use
Follow strict patient safety protocols
