Translational Research Project Manager (TRPM) - Pediatric & Young Adult Cancer Cell Therapy

Position Overview:

The Translational Research Project Manager (TRPM) will oversee the Pediatric and Young Adult Cancer Cell Therapy Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH). In collaboration with program director Dr. Robbie Majzner, the TRPM will manage a portfolio of novel cell therapies aimed at altering the standard of care and providing innovative therapeutic options for children and adults with incurable cancers. This role involves strategic decision-making, regulatory oversight, program management, grant/report writing, and translational research oversight, ensuring the successful translation of cutting-edge therapies from the laboratory to the clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

Work closely with Dr. Majzner to strategize and implement program goals and objectives.
Manage project scope and timelines through formal change management processes.
Address project issues and risks, applying standard risk management techniques.
Perform needs assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of the program, implementing solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Manage relationships with external funders, collaborators, and industry partners (biotech, pharma, etc.).
Lead collaborative meetings and ensure deliverables are met according to agreed-upon timelines.
Assist in program funding strategies and grant applications.
Develop and lead workshops, seminars, and orientations for the program.
Draft strategic documents, including business plans and reports for stakeholders and funding partners.
Supervise and guide junior research staff, including Project Managers, Clinical Research Coordinators, and Research Assistants.

Regulatory Oversight:

Support regulatory tasks related to IND submissions and annual reports for clinical trials.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the clinical trial process.

Team Leadership & Supervision:

Assist with the supervision of research staff, including potential direct reports such as Translational Research Project Managers, Clinical Research Coordinators, and Research Technicians.
Provide mentoring and oversight to junior team members as needed.

Patient Contact:

Assist with patient consenting in research protocols in collaboration with Clinical Research Coordinators and Data Specialists.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., clinical research, life sciences, or a related discipline).

Experience:

At least 5 years of clinical research experience, including a minimum of 3 years in project management.
Experience in program/project management within a biotech, pharma, or academic research setting.
Regulatory experience with clinical trial development is preferred but not required.

Skills & Abilities:

Strong competencies in project management, resource management, and organization, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and resources effectively.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Proficiency with project management software such as SmartSheets (or ability to quickly learn such tools).
High emotional intelligence (EQ) and a collaborative work style.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional reports and presentations.
Solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a keen attention to detail.
