Role Overview:
The Associate Director – Dermatology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based medical expert responsible for scientific engagement with key external stakeholders, including Scientific Experts (SEs) and Clinical Experts (CEs). The role focuses on facilitating scientific exchange, capturing actionable insights, and supporting Lilly’s strategic research and commercialization objectives in the dermatology therapeutic area.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Scientific Expertise:

  • Maintain cutting-edge knowledge of dermatology therapeutic area, including Lilly and competitive products.

  • Respond to complex medical information requests from healthcare professionals.

  • Serve as a trusted, unbiased resource for scientific and clinical information.

2. Customer Engagement:

  • Engage with SEs/CEs to deliver high-value scientific insights and foster positive relationships.

  • Facilitate collaborative research opportunities and connect stakeholders to internal Lilly resources.

  • Gather actionable feedback to inform Lilly’s strategy for research, product development, and commercialization.

3. Territory Ownership & Planning:

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan prioritizing MSL activities.

  • Use analytics to identify and prioritize key customers, optimize engagement, and ensure compliance.

  • Collaborate with field colleagues for coordinated customer coverage and efficiency.

4. Strategic Leadership & Insights:

  • Synthesize and communicate actionable clinical insights to internal teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Build internal networks to support strategic decision-making.

  • Demonstrate adaptability, strategic agility, and innovative problem-solving in a dynamic business environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in health sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD) with 2–3 years relevant clinical or therapeutic experience OR

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in health sciences (BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with ≥5 years clinical, research, or industry experience in the relevant therapeutic area.

  • Full U.S. work authorization; valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to travel up to 80% and work occasional weekends (4–6 per year).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dermatology therapeutic area experience strongly preferred.

  • Residence near Washington DC/Baltimore with coverage flexibility for surrounding regions.

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills.

  • Advanced presentation, literature review, and communication skills.

  • Self-directed, able to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

  • Experience in professional networking and field-based roles highly valued.

  • Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, clinical research, and medical education processes.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $151,500 – $244,200 (based on experience, skills, and location).
