Role Overview
GSW is seeking an Associate Experience Design Director (UX) to lead the creation of user-centered, high-impact digital experiences for healthcare and life sciences clients. This role blends UX strategy, interface design, motion, and emerging technologies to deliver scalable, compliant, and visually compelling solutions across web, mobile, AR/VR, and emerging digital platforms.
The successful candidate will support the GSW Santa Monica office and must be available to work Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours while operating remotely from Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Experience & UX Design Leadership
Design end-to-end digital experiences, including information architecture, navigation systems, UI components, and visual frameworks
Translate brand, campaign, and UX strategy into wireframes, interactive prototypes, and scalable design system components
Develop interactive concepts, motion design, animations, and micro-interactions to enhance user engagement
Ensure design solutions balance creativity, usability, accessibility, and regulatory compliance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with developers, UX designers, copywriters, and creative teams to ensure seamless execution across platforms
Test, evaluate, and iterate designs to optimize usability, performance, scalability, and user engagement
Maintain and evolve component libraries and design systems to ensure visual and functional consistency
Present creative concepts and design rationale clearly to internal stakeholders and clients
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Visual Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline
4+ years of experience in digital UX or experience design
2+ years of experience within a healthcare advertising agency or regulated healthcare environment
Advanced proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketch
Working knowledge of animation and prototyping tools such as Principle, Lottie, or similar platforms
Strong understanding of typography, color theory, visual hierarchy, and responsive design principles
Experience designing with accessibility standards (WCAG) and component-based design systems
Proven ability to translate complex healthcare, medical, and scientific information into intuitive digital experiences
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with GenAI and creative AI tools such as Midjourney, ChatGPT, or similar platforms
Experience designing for both healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patient or consumer audiences
Strong portfolio demonstrating UI/UX design, motion design, and digital healthcare experiences
Ability to balance innovative design thinking with brand governance and regulatory requirements
