About the Role
The Business Data Steward position within the Clinical Planning & Insights (CP&I) Team offers an exciting opportunity for data-driven professionals passionate about data quality and integrity. This role is a key contributor to GSK’s Global Clinical Operations function, supporting transformation in how data and quantitative insights drive decision-making in R&D.
Global Clinical Operations is the largest functional group within GSK’s Development organization, central to planning and executing human subject research. By ensuring data integrity, this role helps scientists make timely, evidence-based decisions about promising medicines and vaccines—ultimately making the development process more efficient and effective.
The role sits within the Digital, Analytics, and Performance Team, focused on building cutting-edge trial operational analytics capabilities and improving data quality across clinical operations.
Key Responsibilities
Data Definition & Metadata Cataloging
Define and document clear metadata for assigned data domains.
Data Standards & Governance
Ensure compliance with data governance policies and standards.
Define data classification, security, usage, and quality requirements.
Data Quality Assurance
Establish and maintain data quality checks.
Resolve data quality issues by collaborating with Product Owners and SMEs.
Address and triage user queries related to data domains.
Data Flow & Lineage
Document and maintain transparency of data flow and lineage across systems.
Issue Resolution & Collaboration
Drive cross-functional collaboration to resolve data issues within a matrixed environment.
Monitor third-party activities linked to data management.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree (BSc) or equivalent in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
Experience
10+ years in data management, data quality, or related roles.
Experience in Pharma Development Data preferred.
Strong expertise in SQL for querying, managing, and analyzing data.
Skilled in interpreting and deriving insights from complex datasets.
Familiarity with data flow and lineage concepts.
Experience with Collibra or similar data governance tools (preferred).
Proven success in solving data quality issues in a matrix organization.
Skills
Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
