Role Summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to perform routine and complex laboratory testing in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment. The role supports patient care through accurate testing, equipment maintenance, quality control, and laboratory operations.


Key Responsibilities

Specimen Processing & Testing

  • Determine specimen acceptability according to established criteria

  • Perform routine and complex laboratory testing procedures

  • Follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Instrumentation & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor and operate laboratory instrumentation

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure proper functionality

  • Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving

Reagents & Controls

  • Prepare and evaluate:

    • Reagents

    • Controls

    • Testing materials

Reporting & Patient Care

  • Deliver accurate and timely test results

  • Support quality patient care through reliable laboratory reporting

Quality Control & Maintenance

  • Perform and document:

    • Preventive maintenance

    • Quality control procedures

  • Ensure compliance with laboratory standards

Inventory & Workflow Support

  • Replenish testing bench supplies as needed

  • Assist with specimen processing during high workload periods

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe laboratory work environment

  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)


Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in:

  • Chemical Science

  • Biological Science

  • Clinical Laboratory Science

  • Medical Technology

Experience

  • 1+ year of clinical laboratory testing experience
    OR

  • MLS (Medical Laboratory Science) degree


Preferred Qualifications

Certifications

  • ASCP certification preferred

  • AMT certification preferred

Laboratory Skills

  • Understanding of clinical laboratory operations

  • Ability to follow SOPs and quality standards

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with:

    • Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)

    • Computer applications

    • Laboratory instrumentation

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

Communication & Organization

  • Good communication skills

  • Strong organizational capabilities

Teamwork

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively


Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test

  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as required

  • Ability to work in a high-volume, production-based laboratory environment
