Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Team Lead (CTL) – Oncology to join a Functional Service Provider (FSP) clinical operations team. This role functions as the Clinical Project Manager (CPM) within the core project team and is accountable for the clinical delivery of oncology clinical trials.

The Clinical Team Lead oversees site management strategy, clinical monitoring oversight, subject recruitment performance, and clinical vendor coordination while ensuring compliance with ICH-GCP, regulatory standards, contractual timelines, and budget expectations.

This is a remote, US-based leadership opportunity with up to 25% travel required.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Trial Leadership & Delivery

  • Own and drive clinical project performance in alignment with contracted deliverables, quality standards, and customer expectations.

  • Lead development of clinical project strategies using data-driven approaches and risk-based methodologies.

  • Oversee site management activities, monitoring strategies, and vendor oversight for oncology trials.

  • Ensure clinical project plans address scope, quality, timeline, and budget considerations.

Oncology Trial Oversight

  • Provide clinical leadership for oncology-focused studies across various phases of development.

  • Ensure adherence to oncology protocol requirements, recruitment strategies, and site performance metrics.

  • Support subject recruitment and retention strategies.

Financial & Risk Management

  • Manage clinical project budgets, financial forecasting, and revenue tracking in accordance with contractual agreements.

  • Identify operational, financial, and quality risks using Quality by Design and risk management frameworks.

  • Lead scope change management and oversee change order processes.

  • Monitor KPIs and client-specific performance metrics.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary clinical representative for assigned clients.

  • Drive collaboration across cross-functional, matrixed global teams.

  • Participate in bid defense meetings and support new business development efforts.

  • Escalate issues appropriately through established governance pathways.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Build and lead high-performing clinical project teams.

  • Provide mentorship and performance feedback to team members.

  • Ensure accurate clinical resource forecasting and proactively address resourcing challenges.

  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence within a virtual environment.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP guidelines and international regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee regulatory submissions, ethics committee documentation, and tracking where required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or certification in a related allied health profession (e.g., Nursing, Medical Technology, Laboratory Sciences).

  • Equivalent relevant clinical research experience may substitute for formal education.

  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).

Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Clinical Team Lead (CTL).

  • Minimum 5+ years of clinical research or clinical monitoring experience.

  • Oncology clinical trial experience required.

  • Strong knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines and global regulatory requirements.

  • Experience managing clinical projects in matrixed and virtual team environments.

  • Financial management experience including budget forecasting and tracking.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Life Sciences or related field.

  • PMP certification.

  • 2+ years of CRA (Clinical Research Associate) experience, onsite or in-house.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $135,000 – $141,000 USD annually (based on skills, experience, certifications, and market benchmarks).
