Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Coding Suspends Specialist to join our medical coding team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving coding-related suspends to ensure accurate claim submission and timely reimbursement. This position requires strong expertise in medical coding systems, regulatory compliance, and problem-solving within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and resolve coding-related suspends generated by coding systems and workflows

  • Analyze medical records, encounter forms, and clinical documentation for coding accuracy

  • Assign and validate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines

  • Identify discrepancies, missing documentation, and coding errors impacting claims

  • Collaborate with coders, billers, and clinicians to clarify documentation and resolve issues

  • Correct coding elements including modifiers and sequencing for accurate claim submission

  • Document findings, actions, and resolutions in coding systems maintaining audit-ready records

  • Monitor trends in coding errors and provide insights for process improvement

  • Support coding audits, compliance reviews, and quality initiatives

  • Stay updated with payer-specific guidelines, regulatory changes, and coding standards

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related healthcare field

Certifications Required:

  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in medical coding, specifically handling coding suspends and denials

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems

  • Familiarity with EHR systems, coding software, and encoders

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and disease processes

  • High attention to detail with accuracy in coding practices

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
