Role Summary

The Medical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all medical services in the hospital, ensuring clinical quality, patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The role acts as the key bridge between clinical departments and hospital administration, driving service excellence and hospital performance.


Key Responsibilities

Hospital Medical Operations

  • Oversee all clinical departments and medical services.

  • Ensure smooth functioning of inpatient and outpatient care.

  • Monitor patient care quality and clinical outcomes.

  • Implement hospital policies and medical protocols.


Clinical Governance & Quality

  • Ensure adherence to clinical standards and protocols.

  • Monitor infection control and patient safety practices.

  • Lead clinical audits and quality improvement programs.

  • Ensure compliance with NABH and healthcare regulations.


Team Leadership

  • Supervise senior doctors, consultants, and department heads.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary clinical teams.

  • Support recruitment and retention of medical staff.

  • Promote professional development and training.


Patient Care Oversight

  • Ensure patient-centric care delivery across all departments.

  • Address escalated patient concerns and clinical complaints.

  • Improve patient satisfaction and service quality.


Hospital Administration Coordination

  • Work closely with hospital management and CEO/Director.

  • Align clinical operations with business objectives.

  • Support budgeting, resource allocation, and planning.


Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare laws and regulations.

  • Maintain accreditation standards (NABH/JCI if applicable).

  • Support audits and inspections.


Strategic Planning

  • Contribute to hospital growth strategy.

  • Develop new clinical services and specialties.

  • Improve operational efficiency and hospital performance metrics.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • MBBS (Mandatory)

  • MD/MS/DNB preferred

  • MHA / MBA Hospital Administration (preferred)

Professional Experience

  • 10–20+ years in:
