Role Overview

The Director – Marketing for Cardiometabolic Health BU will lead portfolio strategy, brand innovation, and customer engagement for India. This role is responsible for shaping long-term marketing strategies, driving operational excellence, and leading a high-performing marketing team.

The Director will partner cross-functionally with Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Market Access, and Global teams to deliver sustainable growth, impactful product launches, and enhanced patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Brand Leadership

  • Define and own India marketing strategy aligned with global and regional objectives.

  • Translate corporate goals into actionable multi-brand marketing plans and go-to-market strategies.

  • Identify growth opportunities through market trends, competitive intelligence, and customer insights.

  • Develop differentiated brand positioning, customer segmentation, and value propositions.

2. Integrated Brand Planning & Execution

  • Oversee annual brand planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and performance tracking.

  • Approve marketing strategies for all portfolio brands, assessing ROI and financial alignment.

  • Monitor brand health, market share, and campaign effectiveness through analytics.

3. New Product Launch Excellence

  • Lead end-to-end launch strategy including opportunity sizing, competitive mapping, pre-launch readiness, and commercial execution.

  • Champion launch preparedness across cross-functional teams.

  • Build launch playbooks and internal capabilities for repeatable go-to-market excellence.

4. Commercial Effectiveness & Field Alignment

  • Partner with Sales to ensure brand strategy is executed in the field.

  • Shape field force training strategy in collaboration with L&D and Medical Affairs.

  • Support messaging consistency, coaching, and performance reviews.

5. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Set vision and direction for customer engagement across HCPs, KOLs, pharmacists, and institutions.

  • Build omnichannel engagement programs and strengthen partnerships via congresses, speakers, and digital platforms.

  • Deepen relationships with KOLs and patient advocacy groups for disease awareness and access programs.

6. Cross-functional Leadership

  • Serve as primary marketing liaison with Global, Regional, Medical, Regulatory, Market Access, Legal, and Supply Chain teams.

  • Represent marketing in business reviews, strategic planning forums, and compliance reviews.

  • Drive alignment across cross-functional teams for seamless execution of strategic initiatives.

7. Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, agility, and collaboration.

  • Ensure career development, succession planning, and performance coaching.

  • Promote cross-brand knowledge sharing and marketing capability building initiatives.

8. Compliance & Governance

  • Champion compliance and ethical marketing practices in all marketing activities.

  • Partner with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure promotional content and engagement strategies comply with regulations.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/Pharmacy; MBA, M. Pharm, or relevant advanced degree preferred.

  • 12–15 years of pharmaceutical marketing experience, including people leadership and portfolio ownership.

  • Proven success in brand management, product launches, and cross-functional leadership.

  • Experience in strategic decision-making, analytics, and customer-centric innovation.

  • Strong leadership presence with ability to influence senior stakeholders and global teams.

  • Digital/consumer marketing experience preferred.
