1. Role Overview
The Executive Director, Clinical Data Technology Platforms leads enterprise-scale clinical data and technology transformation programs within global drug development.
The role is responsible for defining, orchestrating, and delivering strategic technology initiatives that modernize clinical development data ecosystems, ensuring alignment across global functions, platforms, and stakeholders.
This position operates at a senior executive level, often representing the ASCEND Strategy & Transformation function in governance and portfolio management activities.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic Program Leadership
Lead end-to-end execution of large-scale transformation programs such as:
IDR (Integrated Data Review)
CDP (Clinical Data Platform)
RBQM (Risk-Based Quality Management)
NextGen Development Data Platform
SCAPE / Cloud-based initiatives
Ensure alignment across clinical development functions and enterprise strategy
Define scalable, standardized, technology-enabled operating models
B. Digital & Technology Transformation
Drive modernization of clinical development data ecosystems
Lead adoption of advanced technologies including:
AI and Generative AI (GenAI)
Digital protocol and data platforms
Oversee proof-of-concept (PoC) development and scaling of AI solutions
Ensure integration of cloud-based and enterprise data systems
C. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Governance
Partner with ASCEND leadership, chapter leads, and global stakeholders
Translate strategic objectives into executable integrated program plans
Align scientific, technical, and business functions across R&D ecosystems
Manage external partnerships and cross-functional governance structures
D. Program Delivery & Execution Excellence
Monitor execution of multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously
Define priorities, delivery milestones, and success metrics
Ensure transparency in:
Program status
Risks and dependencies
Decision-making requirements
Drive enterprise-level outcomes across global initiatives
E. Leadership & Organizational Enablement
Provide executive leadership, coaching, and governance
Build high-performance, innovation-driven teams
