About the Role
Merck Healthcare is seeking an experienced Expert Scientific Writer – Medical Communications to join its Global Scientific Communications Content Hub in Bengaluru. The role involves developing high-quality medical communications, medical education, and scientific content while collaborating with global medical units across Oncology, Rare Tumours, Neurology & Immunology, Fertility, and Cardio-Metabolic & Endocrinology.
The successful candidate will lead content development projects, provide scientific review support, collaborate with international stakeholders, and contribute to strategic communication initiatives across global healthcare programs.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Communications & Scientific Writing
Develop medical communication and medical education content for diverse audiences.
Create scientific materials including:
Publications
Congress Materials
Medical Education Content
Scientific Presentations
Communication Assets
Adapt writing styles based on project requirements and target audiences.
Content Leadership & Quality Review
Lead development of medium to high-complexity scientific content.
Review content prepared by junior writers for:
Scientific accuracy
Strategic alignment
Consistency and quality
Tone and messaging
Ensure deliverables meet organizational and stakeholder expectations.
Stakeholder & Project Management
Lead content development discussions with authors and stakeholders.
Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned therapeutic areas and projects.
Build and maintain strong relationships with global medical units and cross-functional teams.
Manage project timelines, priorities, and status reporting.
Team Development & Knowledge Sharing
Mentor and support junior scientific writers.
Develop initiatives to strengthen scientific and therapeutic expertise within the team.
Contribute to capability-building and continuous improvement activities.
Operational Excellence
Support process improvement initiatives within the Global Scientific Communications Content Hub.
Ensure productivity and quality targets are consistently achieved.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
