Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Expert – Scientific Writer to lead the development of high-quality medical and scientific communication content across global healthcare therapeutic areas. This role involves creating, reviewing, and overseeing medical communications, publications, congress materials, and medical education content in collaboration with global medical, clinical, and scientific stakeholders.

The position requires deep expertise in scientific writing, medical affairs communication, and cross-functional content leadership, with responsibility for managing complex content deliverables across multiple therapeutic areas and global teams.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Content Development & Writing

  • Develop high-quality scientific content across multiple formats, including:

    • Medical communication materials

    • Scientific publications

    • Congress materials

    • Medical education content

  • Work independently and collaboratively to produce content for diverse scientific audiences.

  • Ensure scientific accuracy, clarity, and alignment with strategic messaging.

Content Review & Quality Assurance

  • Review and perform quality assurance (QA) of scientific content developed by junior writers.

  • Ensure consistency in tone, scientific integrity, and compliance with internal standards.

  • Validate content alignment with therapeutic area strategies and medical objectives.

Leadership in Content Development

  • Lead development of medium to high complexity scientific writing projects.

  • Conduct concept development and content planning meetings with authors and stakeholders.

  • Act as representative or SME for assigned therapeutic areas and content streams.

  • Provide scientific direction and editorial oversight across projects.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with global medical, clinical, and cross-functional teams.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure clear communication of project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Participate in global discussions across multiple medical units and therapeutic areas.

Project & Workflow Management

  • Manage multiple concurrent scientific writing projects with strict deadlines.

  • Prioritize workload effectively to ensure timely delivery of all outputs.

  • Ensure accurate status reporting and project tracking across assignments.

  • Drive adherence to timelines while maintaining high-quality standards.

Team Development & Mentorship

  • Support development and capability building of junior scientific writers.

  • Contribute to training programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

  • Review work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback.

  • Promote best practices in scientific writing and medical communication.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives within the content hub.

  • Support continuous enhancement of scientific communication standards.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and collaboration.

Strategic & Scientific Contribution

  • Contribute to understanding of complex scientific and clinical concepts.

  • Align content development with evolving therapeutic and industry trends.

  • Ensure scientific outputs support broader medical and business strategies.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Advanced university degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, or related scientific discipline

Experience Required

Fresher Eligible: No

Required Experience: Minimum 9+ years of experience in medical communications, medical affairs, clinical research, or scientific writing

Mandatory Experience

  • Proven track record in scientific writing and medical content development

  • Experience leading scientific communication or writing projects in global settings

  • Exposure to pharmaceutical or biotech industry environments
