Job Summary

Amgen, a global leader in biotechnology, is hiring a Global Category Associate Director for Software Procurement based in Hyderabad. In this strategic role, you will shape global sourcing strategies across Amgen’s software portfolio, influence key business stakeholders, and lead initiatives that optimize value, supplier relationships, and operational risk. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior sourcing expert with experience in life sciences and pharmaceutical procurement to contribute to global innovation in a healthcare-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Own and evolve the global software category strategy aligned with business goals
Collaborate with stakeholders across R&D, Commercial, and Operations to align sourcing with enterprise priorities
Drive global sourcing initiatives focused on value creation, risk mitigation, and innovation
Lead contract negotiations, supplier evaluations, and RFP development
Conduct financial modeling, total cost of ownership assessments, and software spend analysis
Stay updated on software industry trends and vendor capabilities to inform procurement decisions
Engage cross-functional teams to execute software procurement roadmaps
Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and cybersecurity standards
Build Amgen’s technology procurement strategy through external benchmarking and peer engagement

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Doctorate with 5+ years OR
Master’s with 8+ years OR
Bachelor’s with 12+ years OR
Associate’s degree with 15+ years in Global Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Commercial Sales
Minimum 2 years of managerial or leadership experience

Must-Have Skills:

Strong experience with SAP Ariba and ERP systems
Advanced analytical and data modeling capabilities
Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross-functional global teams
Strategic thinking and change management expertise

Good-to-Have Skills:

Deep knowledge of global software vendor management
Expertise in supplier risk, regulatory compliance, and sourcing strategy
Familiarity with benchmarking and category innovation techniques
Experience with TCO analysis, supplier consolidation, and cost modeling
High-level communication skills for engaging with executive leadership

Soft Skills:

Proactive leadership and self-direction
Team-oriented with collaborative mindset
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complex stakeholder ecosystems
Strong communication, persuasion, and problem-solving skills
