Group Leader – Quality (Medical Coding)

Job Summary

The Group Leader – Quality (Medical Coding) is responsible for ensuring high-quality coding output, managing end-to-end quality operations, and delivering client SLAs consistently. The role focuses on quality audits (especially E&M coding), KPI monitoring, process optimization, root cause analysis, and team leadership to maintain accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & SLA Management

  • Ensure consistent delivery of client Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Monitor coding quality and ensure adherence to defined accuracy benchmarks.

  • Conduct quality audits with a focus on Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding.

  • Identify and resolve quality gaps to improve overall performance.

Process Documentation & Governance

  • Create, maintain, and update all process documentation regularly.

  • Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are accurate and up to date.

  • Support governance of coding workflows and operational processes.

Operations & Performance Management

  • Manage end-to-end operations through structured planning and execution.

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for quality deviations and errors.

  • Monitor attrition and shrinkage metrics and ensure targets are met.

  • Review and evaluate staff performance on a continuous basis.

KPI & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics.

  • Analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement areas.

  • Provide regular reports to leadership and client stakeholders.

Training & Team Development

  • Support onboarding and training of new team members.

  • Assist in upskilling coders and improving coding accuracy.

  • Work closely with training and operations teams for capability building.

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement.

Client Communication & Coordination

  • Handle client calls independently when required.

  • Maintain professional and effective email communication with stakeholders.

  • Ensure client expectations are clearly understood and delivered.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in medical coding or healthcare RCM operations.

  • Proven experience in team handling and people management.

  • Strong exposure to quality auditing in medical coding (especially E&M coding).

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of medical coding concepts and standards.

  • Expertise in quality audit processes and operational governance.

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, especially Excel.

  • Experience in KPI reporting and dashboard creation.

Salary Criteria

Expected Salary: ₹7–12 LPA for candidates with 7–10 years of medical coding quality and team leadership experience; professionals with strong E&M audit expertise, client management exposure, and KPI/dashboard ownership may earn ₹12–14+ LPA depending on operational scale and leadership responsibilities.
