Role Overview
The Group Manager – Packing will oversee all packing operations, ensuring schedule adherence, compliance with GMP standards, and operational efficiency. This leadership role is responsible for workforce deployment, training, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives within the packing domain. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and active engagement with regulatory authorities during inspections.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Ensure packing operations meet schedule adherence according to production plans.

  • Review production schedules in collaboration with planning and functional heads.

  • Optimize manpower deployment and conduct on-the-job training for new employees.

  • Ensure continuous availability of packing materials to avoid operational interruptions.

  • Monitor energy utilization and implement efficiency measures.

Quality and Compliance Management

  • Participate in product quality review meetings and maintain effective intra- and inter-departmental communication.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including USFDA, EU, TGA, and ANVISA.

  • Implement quality and compliance programs to maintain product standards.

  • Lead Good Data Management and Data Integrity practices in alignment with ALCOA principles.

  • Maintain a daily presence in the packing area to monitor work activity and adherence to procedures.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Engage, inspire, and coach team members to meet performance expectations.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives within the packing department.

  • Review and guide Leader-Led Conversations to foster a culture of compliance and operational excellence.

  • Plan manpower requirements and participate in recruitment and onboarding processes.

Strategic and Analytical Responsibilities

  • Prepare department budget proposals and monitor expenditures.

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to support operational goals.

  • Apply analytical thinking to resolve complex technical issues and present solutions to auditors and leadership.

  • Make decisions in alignment with GMP procedures and Pfizer global policies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Pharmacy or Science discipline.

  • 15+ years of experience in manufacturing parenteral dosage forms, with proven expertise in packing operations.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively.

  • Demonstrated experience in regulatory inspections and maintaining GMP compliance.

  • On-premise at Vizag, India.
