Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant 1 to join our SBX Molecular Engineering team in Seattle. This entry-level role offers hands-on exposure to cutting-edge DNA sequencing technologies and provides essential support for daily laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in life sciences, a growth mindset, and a collaborative attitude to contribute to a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order, track, and manage laboratory supplies.

  • Maintain, repair, and calibrate lab equipment, including pipettors.

  • Perform routine lab maintenance such as glassware cleaning and vial preparation.

  • Ensure laboratory cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Support the Central Services (CS) team and CS manager in operational tasks.

  • Interpret and execute instructions accurately and efficiently.

  • Develop process improvements to enhance lab efficiency.

  • Execute additional duties as assigned by management.

  • Uphold Roche Diagnostic Seattle policies and support organizational goals professionally.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, or a related scientific/engineering field.

  • Experience: 0–2 years of laboratory or research experience is preferred but not mandatory for recent graduates.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and professional conduct in a laboratory setting.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience in a research or laboratory environment.

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and instrumentation.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and processes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range (Seattle, WA): $40,600 – $75,400 per year (based on experience, qualifications, and location).

  • Discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

  • Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Additional Information
