Role Summary

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to support specimen processing, laboratory operations, and administrative functions within the Special Chemistry department. The role involves handling biological specimens, preparing samples for testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supporting efficient laboratory workflow.


Key Responsibilities

Specimen Processing

  • Receive and sort clinical laboratory specimens

  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis

  • Troubleshoot specimen-related issues

Data Entry & Documentation

  • Scan specimens and enter patient/specimen information into systems

  • Complete record logs and administrative documentation

Equipment & Laboratory Maintenance

  • Ensure laboratory equipment functions properly

  • Perform minor instrument maintenance when required

  • Replenish testing bench supplies

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards


Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent


Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • 3+ months of specimen processing experience

  • 3+ months of medical or laboratory experience


Required Skills & Competencies

Laboratory & Technical Skills

  • Comfortable handling biological specimens

  • Ability to accurately identify and process specimens

  • Basic computer and data entry skills

Work Style & Productivity

  • Ability to work independently and in team environments

  • Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment

  • Meet established turnaround times

Communication & Organization

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • High attention to detail and organizational ability


Physical & Additional Requirements

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position

  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test
