Amgen is hiring a Manager – RWE Innovation Programming in Hyderabad, India for its Center for Observational Research (CfOR). This role focuses on building innovative programming solutions, automation frameworks, and AI-powered tools to enhance Real-World Evidence (RWE) analytics and real-world data (RWD) research across Amgen’s global clinical research ecosystem.

Unlike traditional statistical programming roles, this position emphasizes software engineering, workflow automation, AI-driven analytics, and scalable programming systems to improve productivity and data quality in pharmaceutical research. Candidates with expertise in SAS, R, SQL, Python, AI/ML frameworks, Git version control, and healthcare data platforms will be highly preferred.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals with experience in clinical data programming, data engineering, AI-driven automation, and pharmaceutical R&D innovation who want to build next-generation tools for real-world evidence generation and healthcare analytics.

Approximate Salary Range: ₹30 LPA – ₹45 LPA (Estimated for Manager-level Programming & Data Science roles in Pharma/Clinical Research)


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead innovation and automation initiatives for programming teams within Amgen’s CfOR organization

  • Design and develop scalable programming tools, automation frameworks, and workflow optimization solutions

  • Build and maintain software solutions for Real-World Evidence (RWE) analytics and real-world data processing

  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) including design, testing, deployment, and maintenance

  • Automate repetitive programming tasks and develop modular, reusable code libraries

  • Develop AI-driven programming assistants, copilots, and intelligent automation tools

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process gaps and implement scalable technology solutions

  • Integrate innovations and programming solutions across global programming teams

  • Maintain version-controlled documentation, training materials, and user guides for tools and systems

  • Oversee the work of external vendors and outsourced programming resources

  • Participate in hiring, mentoring, and performance management of programming staff

  • Ensure alignment with technical standards, business requirements, and regulatory expectations


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or related fields

  • 6+ years of experience in statistical programming, software development, or data engineering within life sciences or research environments

  • Strong programming expertise in SAS, R, SQL, and Python

  • Experience working with Real-World Data (RWD) such as healthcare claims and EHR datasets

  • Understanding of clinical research data workflows and pharmaceutical R&D processes

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and collaborative development environments

  • Strong leadership experience managing programming teams or large-scale technical projects

  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in global cross-functional teams


Preferred Technical Skills

  • Experience with AI and machine learning frameworks (e.g., OpenAI APIs, ML models)

  • Knowledge of Git version control and collaborative coding practices

  • Experience developing AI-powered copilots, automation tools, or intelligent agents

  • Familiarity with CDISC standards and healthcare data models

  • Experience working with large healthcare databases such as:

    • Medicare
